Do Great Things Together

I can do things you cannot, you can do things I cannot; together we can do great things. - Mother Teresa
Based on your goals, can you see who needs to be part of your team to accomplish what you need? If you are not technical, but you want to implement a system to grow your business, then isn't it much more efficient to find people who can do this rather than spend countless hours stumbling through learning databases, coding or process design?
If you need to drive sales, and you don't enjoy meeting with people, what about hiring those people who naturally make strangers their friends?
You have to be self aware to know where you excel and where you are limited. If you are not self aware, then you can't see your blind spots. You believe you can do anything. Maybe that is some deep-seeded need to have mastery over everything you come across. However, what is the cost? Is it efficient to keep accumulating skills with varying effort and cost? Isn't business about getting results?
As the year closes and the new can come in, consider getting out of your own way. Go through this simple process:
- Write one big thing you want.
- List all the capabilities required to get the goal.
- Pick two that are easy for you.
- Think about who can do those other items easily and write their name next to the requirement.
You don't have to be the bottleneck to your dreams. You simply have to lead yourself and others more effectively, especially in this highly connected, convenient ecosystem of business. If you want to know what you are especially great at, take a survey and I will review it with you.
